Francisco was bomin El Salvador, CA, in 1952. After studying at the Faculty of Economy, in 1978 he enrolled in Rio Grande do Norte to study architecture as the recipient of the Brazilian government studentship. As early as 1979 he became a member of the London Architectural Association where he received his BA degree in Architecture and RIBA I in 1986 and carried on to receive his AA Diploma and RIBA II in 1988. Within an AA project, he exhibited his work in a group exhibition of photography in 1979 and 1986. He was active in London, working with famous designer studios and extending his knowledge through making designs and renovating residential units in England, Hong Kong and Perth, Australia. From 1986 to 1990 he worked for RonaHeron Arch. &DesignersandwithMichael Hopkins &Partners as a member of the team that designed the IBM HQ at Heathrow – one of the best pieces of modem British architecture. By the end of 1990s he opened his own business in San Salvador, El Salvador, where he developed his reputation and received awards and recognition. In 1996, one of his urban development plans received the Best Residential Development ofiheyear award, and in 1999 he won a second-place award in an open competition for the Salvadorian Ministry of the Exterior new building complex. Working on numerous projects in his home country and abroad, he was overseeing building works in Nicaragua in 2004 and in Managua until 2009. He now lives in Lima, Peru, where in his own studio MZ Iluminadores he presents his brand of artistic lighting. He is dedicated to his own design making, painting and, of course, architectural work.
