Heiko Herrmann – Felix Abra

Born in Schrobenhausen, Germany, in 1953. From 1971 to 1973 he attended a school for glass painting in Neugablonz. From 1973 to 1974 he studied with Heimrad Prem, and from 1974 to 1981 attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the class of Professor Reipk. He was a member of’Kollektiv Herzogstase’ group from 1976 to 1981 and worked as a designer for Anale magazine in 1979. Heiko made two films about his own work process (1981). He received a grant from the city of Munich in 1982 and numerous other grants, such as the one in San Francisco in 1986, Odessa in 2006 and Plovdiv in 2009. He went on many study tours – to Cite des Artes in Paris in 1988, to Morocco, Cyprus, Mallorca and Italy, and received numerous awards, including the National Bavarian Award for painting. In 1988 he joined the ‘Neuen Gruppe’. He has organized a number of art workshops and symposia, such as Pertozhofner Kunstdingertage in his atelier in Pertolzhofen. A documentary was made about his work and activity in the ‘Neuen Gruppe’. In 2005 he opens the Kunstverein Pertolzhofen gallery, which becomes the location of various artistic events – exhibitions, poetry evenings, concerts, workshops. Heiko lives and works in Munich and Pertolzhofen.
