Miloš Koptak – Croatian Bride

Born in Žilina, Slovakia, in 1969. Between 1986 and 1991 he studied arts and literature at the College of Teacher Education, and from 1991 to 1997 he studied painting and illustrating at the AcademyofFine Arts andDesign in Bratislava. In 1994 he attended Ecole des Beaux Arts in St Etienne, and in 1996 Ecole des Beaux Arts in Muulhouse. In 1995 he stayed in Cite des Artes in Paris. Miloš participated in numerous group exhibition shows in Slovakia, Germany, Belarus, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Netherlands, as well as individual shows and as part of the group Miroir Noir in Slovakia, Spain, Austria (Vienna), Germany (Berlin) and Poland (Warsaw). He lives and works in Bratislava. In 2007, in collaboration with a Spanish artist Rai Escale he established Miroir Noir, an artistic group that exists through their joint work in studios and joint displays in exhibitions. It represents a profound exploration of the issue of portrait painting, that is, an experiment in the realm of psychological portrait as the principle of painterly expression based on the attempts to revive and then deny the darkest in both national traditions in the work of Goya, Velasquez, Saura, Kafka, Barthory, Vachal…
