Altio Giorgio – Nocturne

An Italian painter born in 1949, he lives and works in Pordenone, Italy. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, followed by a diploma from the International Graphic School in Venice. Subsequently, he undertook study stays and calligraphy seminars in France. Since 1970, he has exhibited successfully, and his numerous award-winning works are held in public and private collections.

His work embodies all the specifics of material painting. The visual expression is based on an almost relief-like treatment of the surface with paint, enlivening the surface by incorporating non-painterly materials, most often quartz. Through the light-spiritual magnetism of color, he expresses diversity and complexity in simplicity, closing the form with a strong sign language into a symbiosis of metaphoric elements.
