Ana Ivanovska – Whirlwind

She was born in 1982 in Skopje, Macedonia. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje in 2006, in the department of painting as well as conservation and restoration, under the class of Prof. Blagoje Manevski. In 2007, she also graduated from the pedagogical department, and in 2011 she obtained a master’s degree in painting under the mentorship of the same professor. She is a member of the Macedonian Association of Visual Artists. She is also one of the founders of the artistic choir and cultural-artistic alternative art space Art Institute (2009 – 2011) in Skopje. In 2012, she co-founded the female artist group “MOMI” (LADIES). She is currently the owner and manager of the company “Artists’ Workshop – creative puzzles” founded in 2014, and since 2015 has held the status of an independent artist. She has presented numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions, artist colonies, festivals, and workshops both in Macedonia and abroad (USA – New York, Canada, France, Netherlands, Italy, Denmark, Russia, Mongolia, China, Croatia,…). She is the recipient of the annual award for Young Visual Artist “Denes” from the Center for Contemporary Art (2008) and represented the Republic of Macedonia at the international competition, the VII Francophone Games in the field of sculpture in Nice, France (2013). She has participated in several artist residencies: Paris, Vienna, New York City as a recipient of the Young Visual Artist Award “Denes”,… Her artistic endeavors are characterized by working and exploring various media, combining them from producing installations, objects, paintings, drawings, collages, video installations, etc.
