Balind Istvan – Woman and Dog
2000 / oil on canvas / 100×70 cm
About the author:
He was born in 1953 in Ada (Vojvodina). He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad. He is a member of several art associations: MKISZ, MFT, MAOE, and ULUV. He lives and works in Budapest.
During his artistic career, he has held about thirty solo and over a hundred group exhibitions, and has received numerous awards, recognitions, and study scholarships.
In his cycle “Woman with Dog,” he continuously explores variations of standardized forms. By repeating stylized motifs of the woman and the dog in various compositional units, he creates narrative layers with an ironic reference to mass culture. Indifferent forms dynamically enter and exit the frame, changing their semantic value – from figurative representations to pure visual signs.
