Biernat Slawomir – Disconnecting

Born in Zamošće, Poland, in 1977. He attended the secondary arts school in Zamošće (PLSP) from 1992 to 1997, and then in 1998 enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Artwork Protection and Restoration in Krakow, graduating in the class of Professor I. Pulski (Department of Stone Conservation). In 2002 he received a grant from Academie di Belle Arte in Como, Italy. He studied sculpture from 2002 to 2006 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and graduated in the class of Professor J. Sekowski. Since 2009 he has been working as the assistant to Dr Eve Janus who runs the drawing studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He has exhibited his work in his home country in individual and group shows and has received several important awards, the town of Zamošće grant, the Polish Ministry of culture grant, first place award for the design of the town of Zawiercie medallion, first place award for the design of the professor Skulicz’s memorial in 2010. He works in the medium of sculpture and drawing, and lives and works in Krakow.
