Bratoš Mercedes – M. Pompadur

Mercedes was born in Dubrovnik in 1979. In 1999, she completed Luka Sorkočević School of Art and in 2005 she graduated in the class of Umberto Borella from Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. She has also attended a stained glass making workshop. Mercedes has held several individual and group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. She is a member of the Croatian Association of Artists and she lives and works in Zagreb and Dubrovnik. She often works in combined techniques, as well as media, bringing together classical easel painting and photography, transforming it into an installation, a collage. She has been noted for her recent paintings – large canvases she uses to re-interpret and re-animate, in combined media,familiar scenes whose central subjects are the icons of the style and glamour of the golden age of Hollywood.
