Budor Robert – Cypresses

Born in 1954 in Zagreb. Graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the class of Prof. Šime Perić. He was a collaborator in the master workshops of Prof. Lj. Ivančić and N. Reiser. He works as a freelance artist and, besides painting, is engaged in book design and theater design. He has prepared over 20 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. In 2003 and 2005, he participated in the 4th and 5th Interbalkan Visual Arts Symposium on the island of Samothraki as a representative of Croatia.

Budor’s painting is characterized by intimate landscapes created through layered color filtering, almost monochromatic fields where white appears as a distinct exception, a relief as well as a place of pure painterly gesture… His landscape is a space of abstract painterly action but also a spiritual, imagined, virtual one.
