Budor Robert – Olive Tree 3

Born in 1954 in Zagreb. Graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the class of Prof. Šime Perić. He was a collaborator in the master workshops of Prof. Lj. Ivančić and N. Reiser. He works as a freelance artist and, in addition to painting, is involved in book design and theater design. He has organized more than 20 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. In 2003 and 2005, he participated in the 4th and 5th Interbalkan Visual Arts Symposium on the island of Samothraki as a representative of Croatia.

Budor’s painting is characterized by an intimate landscape created through layered sieving of color, almost monochromatic fields in which white appears as an emphasized exception, relief, but also a place of pure painterly gesture… His landscape is a space of abstract painterly activity but also a spiritual, imagined, virtual one.
