Born in Zagreb in 1971, Tomislav graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, the Teaching Department, in the class of Professor Miroslav Šutej in 1997. He has exhibited his work in many group and individual exhibition shows in Croatia, USA (New York), Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Latvia, Syria and China. He has received some notable awards including the AICA Avvard at the 39th Zagreb Salon, vvhich enabled him to contribute to the residential programme with his exhibition 2005 P. S. 1 – New York, as well as the Vladimir Nazor Avvard, the highest acknovvledgement in the arts which he received in 2009 for his exhibition ’Pilgrims – a vision of mystical joumeys’ held in 2008 at the Art Pavilion in Zagreb. He works as a senior lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, he is the vice-president of the Croatian Association of Artists, and a collaborator in numerous projeets, particularly those promoting sacral art. This painter of Arcadian landscapcs is classified vvithin the postmodem eclecticism due to numerous historical references where form and composition are concemed, as in the relationship of ehar-acters and landscapes. He is distinguished by a unique dravving style and a painterly iconography of a com-plex world of characters, an epic narration and a clear message about the human need to be one with nature.
