Casagrande Peter – She Sleeps

He was born in Weilheim, Germany, in 1946. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He then continued his education at the High School in Berlin, and in 1983 he was a scholarship holder of the city of Munich.
He has organized around fifty solo domestic and international exhibitions and participated in about a hundred group exhibitions in Munich, Hanover, Vienna, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Budapest, Milan, London, Cairo, at the international biennale in Poland, Berlin, Genoa, Piacenza,… He is a recipient of the German national award for visual arts. He is a member of the BBK-Bayer artists’ association. His works are in numerous collections: the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and many galleries, in the Fondazione Reverberi in Genoa,… Many publications have been released about his work and several television documentaries filmed. He lives and works in Maitenbeth, Germany.

His painting is marked by the expression of a strong, free gesture recorded with pure color on the canvas. Oriented towards pure action painting, using lavage, he creates splatters and pours with his gesture drawn across large fields, modeling with dense pigment, thus bringing the painting process itself to the forefront. The paintings are his personal psychograms that depict the artist’s tension and strong energy released across the painting’s surface.
