2009 / acrylic on canvas / 110×90 cm
About the Author:
“Drawing, painting, sculpture, design, and installation are stages on Alfred de Locatelli’s artistic path that indicate his heterogeneous and thereby rich creativity. In his Medanese studio, he has maintained openness to new challenges and incentives. He achieves calmness, almost a spiritual atmosphere, by using a limited color spectrum within which he seeks different intensities and shades. By using sand, he structurally enriches the surface, although it remains within the boundaries of moderation, and the whole story gains dynamics, a strict rhythm, and an almost dramatic tone when the artist incises geometric surfaces into it. The painting has come alive. Geometry of emptiness has entered the two-dimensional space, bringing vitality, a play of opposites, and richness of symbols. Meta-spaces of the painting arise, which de Locatelli uses to enhance the artistic impression. Plastic and geometrically pure shapes become participants in the events. They introduce reality and the power of visual effects into the illusion of some space, guiding the viewer from initial romantic enthusiasm to a path of reflection on what has been narrated.”
