About the author:

She was born in 1956 in Skopje, Macedonia. She is a visual artist employed as a full professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje, at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, teaching courses in fine arts. She graduated in 1984 from the Fine Arts Academy in Skopje, in the class of Petar Mazev, and obtained a master’s degree at CEU in Prague, Czech Republic. In 1996, she completed studies at the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje. She participates in significant group exhibitions such as “White Night” at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, and in recent years (2016 and 2017) she has presented solo projects as a mentor for projects realized by students of the Faculty of Architecture: 2017 ENTER – a 3D collage of cardboard pieces in Van Gogh’s room or “Guernica 3D” – a three-dimensional rendition of Picasso’s Guernica (a 3D cardboard collage). For the past 20 years, she has used photography as a medium to express her views on certain issues, events, or problems that confuse her. Using her own photography in her collage creations, she attempts to express her ideas and meanings that lie beyond the image itself, thus creating new images that have a different context and meaning. In her works, Avramovska indirectly creates a “portrait of the environment” by depicting people, objects, or events, collaging them in different, unexpected ways that generate multi-layered associations.
