Forbici Jernej – Fakeplastic Rab flowers

He was born in 1980 in Maribor. In 1999/2000, he studied painting at the Academy of Visual Arts in Ljubljana in the class of Prof. Darko Slavc. In 2000, he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice where he graduated in 2005. He completed his postgraduate studies under Prof. Carlo di Raco. He lives and works in Venice, Vicenza, Ptuj, and Berlin.

Since his student days, he has been painting vast landscapes that evoke associations with biblical themes. In pronounced perspective and aerial view, he presents immense plains that wind away into infinity. Close in perspective to 16th-century Venetian Mannerism, and in color to Northern New Expressionism, his painting is current and cautionary, speaking about the universal through local themes.
