Grozaj Petra – She Hates Dogs

Petra Grozaj was born in 1974 in Zagreb, Croatia. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2002, after completing her studies at the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb. Her works are recognized for their figurative approach, focusing on female portraits that often possess a mysterious and ambivalent character. Through her paintings, she explores the inner world of her subjects, creating narrative wholes that balance between reality and the surreal. Her work strongly connects painting and photography, often using photographs of celebrities as inspiration, yet transforming them into her own interpretations. Petra Grozaj has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including galleries in Zagreb, Berlin, Leipzig, and Paris. Her works are part of private and gallery collections, and she has received the Rector’s Award from the University of Zagreb, the Academy of Fine Arts Award, as well as several scholarships and acquisition awards.
