Holasek Petra – Untitled

She was born in 1964 in Graz. She holds a master’s degree in law. She lives and works in Graz (Austria). She acquired her painting skills and experience alongside renowned painters with whom she socialized, and through whom her interest in painting developed and deepened. She traveled the world (Italy under the guidance of Brigitte Heiden, Greece in the company of Josef Schweikhardt and Herman Hemetek, Salzburg with Prof. Hermann Nitsch). Her painting evolved in stages, connected to the places she stayed: St. Paul de Vence, Nice, Kilimanjaro, North Africa, Rome, Paris, Miami, and New York. For her, her paintings are prints of her inner impulses and realizations.

In her latest paintings, she aligns with the poetics of Action painting, emphasizing the significance of tactility, the physical touch with the material, color, and canvas. Through multi-layered application of paint, washing the upper layers with water so that the underlying layers of color shine through, and directly imprinting hand traces into layers of impasto, she achieves a strong charge and expression.
