Labaš Lucija – Coconut

She was born in 1975 in Zagreb. She graduated in painting and earned a PhD in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, with her doctoral research titled “The Concept and Role of Texture in Painting: Development Overview and Attempt at Definition.” Since 2004, she has worked at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, currently holding the position of assistant professor. Her artistic pursuits include painting, drawing, collage, photography, object art, artist’s books, and video art. She has presented her video works at prestigious video festivals and events, including the video “Cyborg Dream” shown at Pop Rally Abstract Currents at the MoMA Museum in New York, the video “Networking” selected for the international artist video festival Cologne OFF X/ 10th Cologne International Videoart Festival Total Art in the One Minute Wonder category, screened in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Meghalaya/India, Cuzco/Peru, Miden/Greece, as well as the video “Wirsind Hunde” included at the WOW.01 Art Film and Video Festival – The W:OW Art Film and Video Festival @ Video Vortex XI @ Kochi Muziris Biennale 2016/2017 at The New Museum of Networked Art, Kerala/INDIA, among others. Since 2000, she has regularly exhibited in solo and group exhibitions both in Croatia and abroad, and has led several solo and group art projects. She has participated in professional artistic development and study trips in Cuba, Mauritius, and France. She is a member of HDLU and HULULK.
