Lekić Margareta – Spheres

Margareta was born in Osijek in 1982. After studying physics at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Osijek, she enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. She graduated with honours from the Department of Sculpture in 2007. She has held a number of grants: a grant for comics workshop at Balaton, Hungary, a University of Indiana grant, a city of Zagreb studentship for postgraduate studies she has been attending since 2008 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, a studentship for Massachusetts College in Boston, USA, and for Site International des Arts in Paris. Margareta also received special Chancellor’s Awards, in 2006 and 2007, won One Take Film Festival design contest, and was nominated for the Essl Award in Vienna for three years in a row. She exhibited independently in Croatia, Indiana, Boston, Stockholm and Berlin. Apart from her creative work, she also works in education. After working as an artist and a teacher for a number of years, she decided to combine her love for art and for the logical, and make didactic toys. Margareta is a member of the Croatian Association of Artists, the Croatian Association of Artists in Osijek, the Croatian Freelance Artists’ Association. She lives and works in Osijek.
