About the author:

He was born in 1952 in Rijeka. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice in the class of Prof. Carmelo Zotti, after which he furthered his studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti Brera in Milan. He is a member of HDLU Rijeka and works as an assistant professor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka.

Throughout his career, he has held solo exhibitions in Rijeka, Labin, Venice, Piran, Trieste, and Zagreb, and is the author of numerous decorative panels in public spaces in Opatija, Rijeka, and Novi Vinodolski.

His current painting is characterized by:

  • precise geometric constructions with clearly defined boundaries of the drawing

  • technical innovation through the combination of oil and acrylic (oil paint diluted and applied over an acrylic base)

  • subtle glazing effects

  • a sophisticated play of achromatic tones (shades of gray and white)

  • deconstruction of the materiality of the painted surface

The artist develops the concept of “Architectural capriccio” from the 1990s, where geometric forms gain:

  • a certain musicality of the composition

  • a rhythmic organization of space

  • a dialogue between architectural rigor and painterly freedom

Through this approach, he achieves a unique synthesis of:

  • structural clarity

  • poetic evocation

  • visual harmony
