Mezzacapo Renzo – Sabba

He was born in 1945 in a small town near Siena. As a child, he moved to Piombino, where he still lives. Since 1988, he has appeared as an artist in public. He held his first solo exhibitions from 1994 and became recognized as a national painter. The city of Piombino organized a retrospective exhibition for him in 1998 along with the promotion of a monographic publication. Since 1988, he has been the conceptual initiator and organizer of the ETRURIARTE Contemporary Art Fair, which became an important international gathering; he is the artistic director of the Art Fair in Reggio Emilia and the director of the Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery in Piombino.

His painting is marked by Italian neosymbolism, colored with elements of metaphysics, mystery, and the surreal. Through numerous cycles, he explores and examines his own premonitions and fears, human alienation, and in his latest cycle, he turns to mythological themes as interesting places of his surreal and mystical realizations.
