About the author:He was born in 1971 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He graduated in forestry from the Georgian Agricultural University, simultaneously studying at the theatre academy, and in 1996 he enrolled at the Faculty of Biological Sciences. However, he gave up his formal education and degree to fully devote himself to art. His father, a famous painter himself, was his first teacher, and his first painting dates back to 1993, from which point painting became his sole occupation. His artistic work can be divided into three phases: the first is rooted in Georgian tradition and folklore, the second devoted to his hometown Tbilisi, both belonging to the “Georgian period”, while the third, which the author himself calls “philosophical abstraction,” is marked by his life in France, where he has had permanent residence since 2008 (granted by invitation from the French government). Since then, he lives and works between France and Georgia. He has exhibited solo throughout France, and as a significant Georgian artist has been invited to exhibit in Turkey, Russia, Syria, Estonia, Switzerland, South Africa, among others. He is the recipient of numerous French and Georgian awards. He regularly participates in charity auctions, and his paintings are found in numerous private and public collections worldwide such as the National Museum in Prague (Czech Republic), the Pentagon central office in Washington DC (USA), at the State Tretyakov Gallery administration in Moscow (Russia), and more.
