Petrik Vladimir – Island (Ostrov)

He was born in 1953 in Bratislava, Slovakia. From 1969 to 1973 he attended the School of Applied Arts, and then in 1973 he enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, where he graduated from the department of mural painting under prof. Robert Dubravec, prof. František Gajdoš, and prof. Dezider Castiglione. In 2003, he earned a doctorate at the same academy. He works in painting, graphics, drawing, and illustration; he also works in film and creates monumental wall paintings, murals, and frescoes. He teaches at the Design Institute at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, where he lives and pursues his artistic career.
