About the author:
He was born in 1949 in Belgrade (Serbia). He graduated in painting and subsequently completed postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade. He taught drawing and painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade as a full professor, also served as the dean of the same faculty (2007–2010), and is now retired. He works with drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, mail-art, and video. He has held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions since 1974. He has received several awards and recognitions. He is a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia. He lives and creates in Belgrade. His first drawing was published in 1955 in the highly respected daily newspaper Borba. Since then, he has “created” many drawings for various purposes and intentions, with motifs including the faces of friends, people he knows and does not know, public figures, and random passersby. From an autobiographical note: “As dean, he diligently worked on a socio-managerial-artistic performance. During the performance, or rather his deanship, in official and unofficial meetings, he observed many, many faces somehow from a social position and thus drew and painted much less. But he gained a healthy impression that precisely during that period he advanced in understanding the Old Testament, then Plato, Machiavelli, Marx, then Voltaire, Molière, Swift, then Domanić, Sterija, and Nušić… and especially Chaplin and the Monty Python group.”
