About the author:He was born in 1987 in Vukovar, Croatia. As a refugee, he moved to the island of Krk where he completed elementary school. He finished high school in Osijek with three awards – first places at national competitions in drawing and painting. He continued his achievements at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, which he enrolled in 2005. He was declared the best student in his third year of study. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2012, in the class of Professor Zoltan Novak. Although young, he has received numerous awards for his artistic work, including first place at the Student Biennial in Belgrade; best work at ALU for 2011; and the first prize in the multimedia exhibition project “Create the Change” in Osijek this year. He has participated in residency programs in Macedonia and Lithuania. So far, he has held 7 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad. Although he expresses himself through the medium of painting, his work is based on experimenting with materials, and in his creativity, he questions survival—survival that encompasses the artist, the person, the event, the object, the idea.
