Romoda Mario – Island 2

About the author:He was born in 1987 in Vukovar, Croatia. As a refugee, he moved to the island of Krk where he completed elementary school. He finished high school in Osijek with three awards – first places at national competitions in drawing and painting. He continued his achievements at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, which he enrolled in 2005. He was declared the best student in his third year of study. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2012 in Zagreb, in the class of Professor Zoltan Novak. Although young, he has received numerous awards for his fine art work, including first place at the Student Biennial in Belgrade; best work at ALU in 2011; and first prize in the multimedia exhibition project “Createthe Change” in Osijek this year. He participates in residency programs in Macedonia and Lithuania. So far, he has held 7 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad. Although he expresses himself through the painting medium, he bases his work on experimenting with materials and in his creativity questions survival, survival that encompasses the artist, the person, the event, the thing, the idea.
