Šandrk Stjepan – Adriana

He was born in 1984 in Osijek. He graduated in painting design at the School of Applied Arts in Osijek. In 2006, he earned a degree in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the class of Prof. I. Rončević. He has exhibited in several solo exhibitions in Zagreb, Osijek, Krk, and Barcelona, as well as in significant group exhibitions: the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, HDLU (Art Today), the 42nd Zagreb Salon, Klovićevi Dvori, etc. In 2001, he received the 1st prize for poster design, the Croatian Chamber of Economy Award, the ALU Council Award for best graduate work, and the Slavonski Biennale Award. He works and lives in Zagreb and is enrolled in a postgraduate doctoral painting program. Šandrk’s painting does not emphasize a problem-oriented stance; it is independent of message and stimulus elements. His cold realism reveals an interest in exploring pure visual language, as well as the constructive and compositional organization of the painting.
