Šandrk Stjepan – Hotel Arbiana

He was born in 1984 in Osijek. He graduated in painting design at the School of Applied Arts in Osijek. In 2006, he earned a degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, in the class of Prof. I. Rončević. He has exhibited in several solo exhibitions in Zagreb, Osijek, Krk, and Barcelona, as well as in significant group exhibitions: the Art Pavilion in Zagreb, HDLU (Art Today), the 42nd Zagreb Salon, Kločić Palace, etc. In 2001, he received the 1st prize for poster design, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Award, the ALU Council Award for the best diploma work, and the Slavonia Biennial Award. He works and lives in Zagreb and is pursuing postgraduate doctoral studies in painting. Šandrk’s painting does not have a pronounced problem-oriented stance; it is independent of elements of message and motivation. His cool realism reveals an interest in exploring pure visual language, and the constructive and compositional organization of the image.
