About the author:
He was born in 1945 in North Korea. He lived in the Republic of Korea for thirty years, then moved to Austria, to Vienna, where he has lived for forty years. This artist-painter and architect studied architecture at Jeonbuk National University in Korea, where he also earned his doctorate, and later obtained a master’s degree in painting at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. He is the founder (1995) and organizer of ASROPA – an international art exhibition project in Korea, under the auspices of UNESCO, which for over 20 years has brought artworks by artists from all over the world to Korea and has also been presented in Japan, Hungary, Austria, and Kenya. He began his artistic activities in 1983 and since then has held 65 solo exhibitions and participated in over 500 group exhibitions in Korea, Austria, Hungary, Japan, Kenya, Croatia, Thailand, and others. He is a recipient of the Muedlinger Sommer Academy award and the Jeonbuk South Korea Award. He retired in 2010 as a university professor of architecture and also ceased teaching painting and collage in Austria and Hungary. Since then, he has traveled and participated in numerous artist residencies and art symposiums, having been a guest at 90 of them in 30 countries to date.
