Vekić Matko – Fish 2

He was born in 1970 in Zagreb, Croatia. He graduated in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts (ALU) in Zagreb, in the class of Professor Emeritus Đuro Seder. From 1996 to 1999, he worked as a drawing and painting teacher at the School of Applied Arts and Design in Zagreb, and from 1999 to 2003, he taught painting part-time as an assistant, then as a lecturer at ALU in Široki Brijeg at the University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Since 2007, he has been a lecturer at the Zagreb ALU. So far, he has held 28 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, in Čakovec, Varaždin, Zadar, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Freiburg (Germany), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Graz, London, Istanbul, Luxembourg, Paris. He has won about ten awards and recognitions. In addition to texts by eminent art experts published in professional journals, a monographic book by author P. Prelog has also been published about him. He has traveled extensively for study purposes (India, Turkey, Japan, …) and has participated in many art colonies and workshops. His works are held in many museums and galleries such as the Modern Gallery in Zagreb, the Gallery of Fine Arts in Split,… This year he represents Croatian art at the Venice Biennale.

He is a member of HDLU (Croatian Association of Artists). He lives and works in Zagreb.
