Wawrzusiak Mariola – Wolf

Born in Rzeszow, Poland, in 1971. Mariola studied in the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow from 1992 to 1997, graduating in the class of Professor J. Sekowski. She did her PhD at the same Academy (2006 – 2007). She works as an assistant professor in the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (second and fifth year students). She creates in the medium of sculpture, drawing and photography. She has participated in numerous significant jury exhibition shows, both group and individual ones, across Poland, as well as in Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, USA and Germany. She has also created several construction designs for interiors in Poland and has been working for the Polish furniture manufacturer Vox. She received the town of Graz grant, the town of Krakow Award and the award of the Polish Ministry of culture (2000). Her artistic expression focuses on humans and their nature. She expresses a fascination with duality – of the mind and the body, but mostly with the world of primitive instincts and atavisms inherited from ancient predecessors. The human and the animal.
